Math: Have your child practice writing "change plus" and "change minus" problems. We have worked on this skill in class.
Change plus means: a problem that begins with a given quantity which is then modified by a change - something that is added - that results in a new quantity
Change minus means: a problem that begins with a given quantity, which is then modified by a change - something that results in a new quantity
Example of change plus:
Example of change minus: David had 8 baseball cards. His brother gave him some more. Now David has 14 baseball cards. How many cards did his brother given him? (14-8=6)
Example of change plus: Jill had some books. She let her friend borrow 7 books. Now she has 6 books. How many books did she have to begin with? (7+6=13)
